NY Stingy With PPE After Forcing Sick People On Nursing Homes

Cuomo: ‘Not our job’ to provide PPE to nursing homes’ he forced to accept COVID patients - Liberty Unyielding

Early in the COVID-19 pandemic, Cuomo, who with the help of the TV networks has made himself the de facto king of the daily coronavirus briefing, was asked on Monday about a March 25 directive that requires nursing homes in New York state to readmit residents who've tested positive for the coronavirus.

Although when first asked, the governor seemed unaware that such an order existed, by Wednesday he was a staunch supporter, lecturing nursing homes that refused to comply on the grounds it was causing the deadly contagion to spread to healthier patients.

"They don't have a right to object. That is the rule and that is the regulation and they have to comply with that," Cuomo said according to the New York Post.

Having explained the health facilities' obligation, the governor turned next to the topic of personal protective equipment (PPE). When asked about the state's refusal to furnish the homes with the protective gear, he argued "it's not our job," adding, "We have been helping them with more PPE but, again, it's not our job."

He went on to emphasize that the nursing homes will "be out of business if you're not providing your staff with the right equipment. You're out of business. That we can do," lamenting that he was hamstrung by the regulations.
